Team for Newcastle
Newcastle have seen an upturn in form recently due to their new signings (are you listening, Moyes?), but with both of their first choice full-backs out it could be a good time to play them.

Too many of our players seem below par at the moment, but apart from attacking midfielders we simply don't have the resources to be able to shuffle the pack. But I would like to see substitutions made a bit earlier than the 80th minute if Lanzini and Fornals are looking like they need replacing.

The other issue is dealing with St Maximin. Many will disagree with this, but Fredericks is the only one who can match him for pace, so I would bring him in for the out of form Coufal.

Fabianski
Fredericks Dawson Zouma Cresswell
Soucek Rice
Bowen Lanzini Fornals
Antonio

Re: Team for Newcastle
Fredericks is a non footballer. At least Coufal used to be able to defend. Gone right off the boil though. Johnson would have been a better option. Saint Minimum aint that good though, five goals this season is all. Not sure he's worth special arrangements however flashy he is. Let him run it into the corner, the fucking twat.

Benrahma has to play, didn't look like we'd score if we played for months in that second half against Leicester until he came on. Worth a start for me despite how frustrating he is. Lanzini rarely impresses when he starts.

Suppose we're stuck with Antonio though.

Looks like a draw to me.

Re: Team for Newcastle
I never really saw the love in for Coufal. A decent enough player but he's keeping someone who is 8 years younger than him and better than him out in the side in Johnson. Johnson hasn't put a foot wrong since coming into the first team and deserves to start over someone who has been put of form ever since getting a whack against Man Utd and has lost whatever it is he had.

Anybody think it might be worth playing Lanzini AND Benrahma with Bowen as striker and giving Antonio a rest?

Re: Team for Newcastle
It is very typical of Moyes to play Coufal over Johnson, can read the bloke like a book. Not playing the youngsters is one thing, but he can't even bring himself to play Johnson. The fella is fucking irritating.

I'd also say now is the time to leave out Antonio, play Bowen up top and start with Benrahma in behind.

Very interesting to see all kinds of different ideas emerging on here. Throughout most of the first half of the season, one of the most common phrases you would see on these threads was "the team picks itself". Not any more it doesn't.

I wouldn't let Fredericks anywhere near the bench never mind the first team. One of the worst full backs I've seen at West Ham for many a year

Re: Team for Newcastle
Also, if we're that worried about St Maxim - I would do what we did at Villa last season re Grealish and just double up on him every time he gets the ball. Grealish didn't get a kick until he started drifting inside, then over to the right.

Gives us 2 positive changes from the bench then

Lanzini for Vlasic
Benrahma for Fornals

Vlasic is pretty safe but not spectacular and don’t change a game, Lanzini can change the game from the bench as he showed vs Watford.

I’m also torn at CB I think Dawson could do with a break, I think ASM’s pace is a factor and Diop is much quicker than Dawson, also playing next to Zouma, Diop might be more solid and he did well Sunday, selecting him for this game may improve his confidence.

That’s a big call though as Dawson is generally more reliable.

Didn't we double up on Grealish with Coufal and Frederick's?

I don't think the rice soucek partnership is working and it needs tweaking . I'd go 3 in midfield with fornals alongside Dec with soucek given license to get forward just like last season .

Yep I believe so - I would play Johnson and Coufal if that was the agenda - like I say - Fredericks doesn't have any footballing ability nor the brain for the game. He's fucking useless.

"Fredericks doesn't have any footballing ability nor the brain for the game. He's fucking useless."

Except when he doubles up with Coufal against Grealish.

;-)

I do agree, though, that he's our weakest full back.

What a wonky minded motherfucker you are. Never got the Coufal love in? He cost about ten pence, slotted into the team effortlessly and was basically the second coming of Zabaleta in his prime for most of last season. Yeah proper shit.

Johnson on the other hand has done well but 'hasn't put a foot wrong'? Fucking hell, he's been absolutely roasted a good few times. He's getting better but you've lost the plot with tat post, you plot losing cunt.

Fuckin hell.

Saint Maximin is Cresswell's responsibility but not sure if he played against them last season?
